Raipur: The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made it clear that the National Exit Test (NExT) will not be applicable to the 2019 MBBS batch. He was addressing the students at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur during the inauguration of a critical care unit.
“No student is required to undergo any stress. I’m not bringing the 2019 batch under NExT. I will bring the 2020 batch under it. NExT will not be held in this year,” said the minister.
At the same time All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will conduct a sample mock test for the final year MBBS students on July 28, 2023 to get familiar with the exam pattern. Aspirants can apply for the mock exit test from 28 June 2023, until July 10, 2023, through the official website – next.aiimsexams.ac.in.
National Exit Test or NExT is the uniform national medical licensure exam for MBBS graduates. The examination serves as a common licentiate exam to practise modern medicine, for merit-based admission to postgraduate courses, and as a screening exam for foreign medical graduates who want to practise in India. It replaces both the Foreign Medical Graduates Exam (FMGE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET-PG).
Starting from the beginning, several medical associations, medical professionals, and MBBS students were not satisfied with the new scheme. Reacting to the response of the Union Minister, several doctors and MBBS students thanked the minister and asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to make changes in the new exam before implementing it for students.
