The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a national-level licensure exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). This examination is for candidates who are Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India and hold a Medical Degree awarded by a foreign college or university, aspiring to practice medicine in India. FMGE is mandatory to obtain eligibility to practice medicine in India. The exam is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December.
Candidates who fail to fulfill the above-mentioned criteria will not be allowed to take up the screening test.
Candidates who possess an undergraduate medical qualification from countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America are recognized. Such candidates need not appear for the screening test to obtain the eligibility certificate.
