FMGE is one of the challenging exams, conducted by the National Board of Examinations, aimed to test the knowledge and clinical skills of foreign medical graduates so that they are at par with those practicing medicine in India. Overview of the FMGE

FMGE is a biannual exam conducted in June and December. The exam consists of objective questions based on the medical concepts and their application in clinical scenarios. A minimum of 150 marks out of the 300 total are equal to and over 50% qualifying.

Total Marks and the Criteria of Passing

No Negative Marking

FMGE does not have a provision for negative marking. It means that no marks will be deducted for those questions in which the answer has been marked wrong by the candidate.

 Equal Weightage

All questions carry equal marks. No question carries more marks than another just because one is more difficult than the other. Each correct answer thus adds equally to the total marks.

FMGE 2024: Mode of examination

The FMGE 2024 examination is going to be conducted in the format of a Computer-Based Test, which has been going on regularly during the recent past years. This shift from the traditional pen-and-paper format to a digital platform has several advantages associated with it—enhanced security, faster result processing, and a standardized test-taking environment.

Computer-Based Test (CBT) Format

The test is only computer-based. It is conducted only at designated exam centers, which are present across India. The candidate will be allotted a computer terminal in the test center, in which he has to log in, using the credentials provided by the NBE.These questions will appear on the screen and test takers are permitted to go back and forth to choose or change an answer as needed. The interface contains navigation assistance like the mark for review, skip and return to question, and submit.

FMGE is now conducted in CBT, which requires candidates to get used to the same. The NBE normally releases demo tests or practice sessions.
