How FMGE Paves the Way for Medical Practice in India?

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a nationally recognized entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in India. This licensing exam was introduced with the intention of maintaining uniform standards among medical professionals. FMGE assesses the knowledge and skills of foreign medical graduates who are either Indian citizens or hold Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status, allowing them to practice medicine in India.

If you are a medical professional possessing a primary medical qualification from abroad and looking to practice in India; then qualifying FMGE is mandatory. Qualifying FMGE gives the license to get provisional or permanent registration with the State or the Medical Council of India.

Overview of FMGE

The FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December. This licensing exam was introduced on 15th march 2002 . This examination primarily evaluates the knowledge and practical skills of the foreign medical graduates who wish to practice in India.
