5. Candidates from those countries apply and register directly with the MCI or SMC for the certificate and carry on with their practice in India.

Graduates from countries such as Australia, Canad, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America are exempted from attempting FMGE. Instead they can obtain a provisional/permanent certificate from the national medical commission or state medical council. Once they receive this certificate they can practice medicine in India.
Candidates are allowed a maximum of three attempts to clear the FMGE. Failing to pass within these attempts disqualifies them from further participation.
